Easy Homemade Ketchup

Ketchup is one of those things that I hardly ever buy from the store anymore, and in our household, it is a staple condiment. Whether it’s drizzled over meatloaf or spooned onto scrambled eggs, we always have ketchup in stock.

There are so many benefits to making your own ketchup, beyond the satisfaction of making a condiment from scratch. It allows you to control the quality and freshness of the ingredients, avoiding preservatives and additives commonly found in store-bought varieties. You can tailor the recipe to your taste preferences, adjusting the sweetness, tanginess, and spice level to create a ketchup that perfectly suits your palate. Additionally, homemade ketchup provides an opportunity to experiment with different flavor profiles by incorporating herbs, spices, and alternative sweeteners. By making your own ketchup, you also reduce packaging waste and environmental impact associated with purchasing single-use plastic bottles.
